TRANSFORMATION

Our courtyard underwent an amazing transformation in September! Two Eagle Scout candidates, and their friends and family, revamped the Access courtyard as a project. They donated all the time, equipment, and labor. The finished result is truly a work of art.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

We recently hosted a delegation of Russian pediatricians and psychologists from Children's Hopsice of St.Petersburg, Russia. The delegation was sponsored by the Longmont Rotary Club thorugh a grant from The Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress. Through their translator we discovered that we had a lot in common, especially regarding mental health services for children and famlies.

Though we spoke different languages we were able to connect as human beings sharing in the effort of healing.

MEET SPOT

Many of you who have visited with Access will recognize SPOT, our "Therapy Dog". SPOT, who belongs to Deb King, Clinical Director of the Family Counseling Program, greets our visitors with a calm presence and all-knowing eyes. Many children are comforted when they see SPOT and some won't do their counseling sessions without him present. On those days when SPOT doesn't come to Access, adults and children alike are often heard to ask "Where's SPOT?" with a sigh of disappointment. He can often be seen around town walking with his "human mom".
